Privacy notice

Your information, handled with care.

This notice explains how LYT Work Consulting collects, uses, stores and protects personal information through this website and when you enquire about working with us, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Last updated 2 November 2026

01

Who we are

LYT Work Consulting (“LYT Work”, “we”, “us”) is the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice. Lutfiyya Yacoob is our Information Officer.

02

What we collect

When you send an enquiry through this website, we collect:

  • your name and email address
  • your business name, if you provide it
  • the stage your business is at, if you select one
  • anything you choose to tell us in your message
  • your confirmation that we may use these details to respond

If you email us directly or become a client, we also keep our correspondence with you and the information we need to deliver and invoice our work.

Like most websites, our hosting provider’s servers automatically record basic technical information about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time. These records are used only to keep the website secure and working.

We collect personal information directly from you. Please don’t include special personal information, such as health details, in the enquiry form. This website is intended for business owners and professionals, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.

03

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and arrange an introductory conversation
  • prepare proposals and deliver our services if you become a client
  • invoice for our work and keep the records the law requires
  • keep this website secure and working

We process personal information with your consent, to take steps you have asked for before entering into an agreement with us, to meet our legal obligations, and where it is necessary for our legitimate interests in running and securing the business.

We will not use your details for marketing or add you to a mailing list without asking you first, and we never sell personal information.

04

Do you have to provide it?

Providing your information is voluntary. To respond to an enquiry sent through the form, we need your name, email address and consent; without them we cannot reply. All other fields are optional. You can also write to us directly at info@lytworkconsulting.co.za.

No law requires us to collect enquiry information. If you become a client, the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011 requires us to keep financial records such as invoices; without the details we need to invoice, we cannot take on the work.

05

How we store and protect it

Enquiries are sent from the website straight to our business email account; they are not stored in a database on the website. Our website and email are hosted by Afrihost in South Africa.

Within LYT Work, only Lutfiyya Yacoob has access to enquiries. Anyone who later assists with your engagement does so under a duty of confidentiality.

We protect personal information with reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to this website and password-protected email. If we have reasonable grounds to believe that your personal information has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person, we will notify the Information Regulator and, where we can identify you, let you know as soon as reasonably possible.

06

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to an engagement are deleted within 12 months of our last contact.
  • Client records are kept for the duration of the engagement and then for as long as the law requires (for tax records, at least five years from when the relevant tax return is submitted), then securely deleted.
  • Server records are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period, for security purposes.
07

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where necessary:

  • with Afrihost, which hosts our website and email and processes information on our behalf
  • with professional advisers, such as our accountant, under a duty of confidentiality
  • where we are required to by law

We do not share your information with anyone else, including the clients and partners shown on this website, without your agreement.

08

Information outside South Africa

Your personal information is stored in South Africa, and we do not transfer it to other countries. If that ever changes, we will do so only as POPIA allows and will update this notice first.

09

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, or analytics. It stores one small setting in your browser so that the opening animation plays only once per visit. That setting contains no personal information and is cleared when you close the browser tab.

10

Your rights

Under POPIA, you may:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or obtained unlawfully, or that we no longer need
  • object, free of charge, to processing based on our legitimate interests (on reasonable grounds relating to your situation), and to direct marketing at any time
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

To make a request, email info@lytworkconsulting.co.za with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge to find out whether we hold information about you. If a fee applies to a copy of records, we will tell you in writing first.

11

The Information Regulator

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so that we can put it right. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator:
